You guessed it – this stitch was created by Mrs Hunter. Her family were celebrated for their Shetland lace style knitting. This one is good in both fine yarn, as well as heavier weights, depending on the thickness of the fabric you fancy.
(Sample shown: 3.25 mm needles, Bessie May, Snikel, 100% extra fine merino 4ply (Sorbet))
Foundation: Cast on multiple of 4 stitches dependent on width required, plus 2 (for beginning and end stitch)
Row 1: Knit
Row 2: Purl
Row 3: Knit 1. Repeat *Slip 1, knit 3, pass slip stitch over the 3 knits.* Last stitch knit 1.
Row 4: Purl 1. Repeat *Purl 3, wrap yarn over needle.* Last stitch purl 1.
Repeat Row 1 through 4 to desired length.
