The Bessie May Shruginno Natural Shrug, made with Bessie May Nettle, in Coal, was the hit of the Knit and Stitch Show at Ally Pally.

Many visitors chose this, in all different Bessie May Nettle colours.

With compliments about its style, structure and overall design, the Art Deco Symmetry was a hit.

It has been designed to look good at all angles, whether wearing casual or on special occasions.

Of course it is also a great project to make.

Samphire ~ Bessie May Snikel

Posted on - 04/03/2013

The beautiful Crochet Collar created by Bee Clinch of MadeDoMenders, published in this season’s Pom Pom Quarterly Magazine has been released, and is so pretty.

Perfect for that special vintage button you have been keeping forever.

Created using Bessie May Snikel, our 4ply best of italian quality, Extra Fine Merino, in the favoured colour of Bessie May ‘Lichen’. Love the name for the collar ~ Samphire.

Would be great also in the other special Snikel shades, so could be worn to fit many different outfits, and a beautiful gift ~ maybe for Mother’s Day?

Congratulations to Bee and Pom Pom Quarterly for a very special pattern.

Chevron Scarf ~ Simply Knitting Magazine

Posted on - 28/02/2013

This beautiful Chevron Scarf featured in this month’s Simply Knitting Magazine, is a great project using only 100g of yarn.

Designed with Bessie May Grace, Super Kid Mohair and Silk, in Berry, it looks amazing.

Bessie May Grace is a Lace Weight, so although 100g project, the metres for the scarf are 780, which is why it looks so full and cosy.

The pattern is available here ~ for only 69p, which is great value.

A simple lace pattern repeat, knitted straight, it could be done with enjoyable ease, so could be a great option for Mother’s Day.

Some are already being made in the blue if Dusk, as well as, softest beige of Mist, but could also be lovely in the brighter shades of Fair and Lychee.

Smile Heart Beret Knit Kit

Posted on - 21/01/2013

The Bessie May Smile Heart Long Cuff Mitts have been a real hit, and we have added to the collection by creating a Smile Heart Beret, depending on how you wear it, to match our lovely mitts.

Once again made with Bessie May Smile, extra fine merino wool, created in two lovely colour ways, so much to choose from, or as a choice of twelve colours in Smile, then many other options possible.

Pattern is launched today, with kits of both colour ways available, providing yarn required and downloadable pattern free.

Some lovely shots capture in the snow, just to prove hats are still in great need.

Honor Swing Top for Spring

Posted on - 17/01/2013

A Bessie May Design hits Let’s Knit Magazine in their March Bumper Issue – the Honor Swing Top in ‘Zest and Zing‘ of Bessie May Honor, perfect for that spring day, with inspiration of spring flowers and daffodils.

Created using reversed stocking stitch using a large and small needle together, so a soft elasticated style fabric. Fun and straight forward to make, as well as light and cool to wear. Can be dressed up with a lovely summer skirt, or worn casual with shorts or jeans.

If you prefer more subtle colours then pastels and soft shades to choose from as well.

Rhubarb & Custard Candy Twist

Posted on - 19/12/2012

The rhubarb and custard colour fasination continues to grow at the Bessie May Studio – cute ‘candy twists’ emphasis the colour combinations – can you guess what the design is going to be?

All finished, but other colour combinations being put together, for a very different look and feel. All created using Bessie May Smitsy, in soft fine merino aran weight.

Ready for a new Bessie May Knit Kit to be launched in the new year.
