We got to play in Florence, Italy, for a week at the beginning of July, as we attended Pitti Filati Autumn 2014-2015.
The Inspiration Section depicting trends and colours for that season, was beautiful, with the theme being all about Love.
We captured some of the different elements that caught our eye, with co-ordinated, cute, knit couples, all through the show.

We are preparing at the Bessie May Studio to hit Pitti Filati in Florence next week, and get a peak at all the amazing yarn designing and inspiration to be shared by the best mills and knitwear design houses for Spring/Summer 2014 season – we love to always be thinking ahead and getting as much flavour and inspiration as we possibly can.
Colleagues ready to meet, cameras at the ready, and looking forward to finding usual Italian style, style, style, with well needed pit stops for excellent coffee, along the way.
We will share what we learn on our return.

We are so excited at the Bessie May Studio. We are into our second Autumn/Winter Season, which is amazing, and we have been up to loads, so lots to share. We have been busy transforming our website, exhibiting our yarns and meeting some amazing knitters, yarn addicts, and Bessie Mayers.
On our blog and ravelry pages it is great to see and share the amazing designs that are being created in our yarns, so please do share them with us, as we love to see what is being made, and pass on the inspiration.
Other things that we have been up to, include producing our patterns and sharing these, which we are focusing on hugely at the moment. Design of accessories being a priority focus for us, with new ones busy being sampled by our expert knitters before we release them.
As we commit to offering all of our yarns and yarn colours all of the time we are busy restocking and are having more yarn spun in our mills in Italy as I write this. We just can’t wait for them to arrive.
Based on customer feedback, we have added additional colours to our Snug Yarn, which is our chunky fine merino wool, which we are pleased has been so well received, and is a unique yarn in this weight. Currently available in deep solid Bessie May colours, but expanding shortly, so will share more soon – we know they are going to be so lovely.
We are also designing the next yarns to grow our ranges, but all a secret at the moment. We have a few designs under evolution. We are sure they are going to be a real treat.
It was real fun meeting our customers at the recent Knit and Stitch Show at Aly Paly, and the enthusiasm for yarn and knitting was just four days of pleasure for us.
Based on this experience and the response to Knit Kits we are adding these to our offering also, as quickly as we can. We want them to be an interesting buy, that provides a pattern and choice of colours of yarn for the required pattern, so when choosing you can get something more personal.
As the kits include only our own patterns and yarns, we can guarantee the quality, and that the finished article will be special.
Our Knit Kits include the pattern free, and 10%-15% off the chosen yarn to complete the pattern, so a bargain as well. They are perfect for gifting or for making that special christmas gift for a friend. We love creating the Knit Kits, and have so many more ideas that we have on our hit list for these, but would also welcome requests and ideas, as we expand them.
We send best wishes to all our customers, and hope that this update keeps you abreast of Bessie May and where all our hours of time go. At this point in the season I am sure scarfs, mitts, hats are top of the list, so we are continuing to create these so keep checking our site for the latest accessory ideas, patterns and kits, and let us know what you think.

Another Bessie May Pattern – all complete and loaded on our site for downloading.
At the Stitch and Knit Show the Bessie May Smile Heart Long Cuff Fingerless Mitts were admired by many. So we are pleased to share we have been busy at the Bessie May Studio writing the pattern up and getting it online.
It is created using Bessie May Smile, 100% Extra Fine Merino, so you can imagine just how soft and warm these are. Comfort and style for any winter day. With 12 colours to choose from, the colour way combination is the biggest decision to make.
The mitts are knitted in the round, increasing as mitt grows, following the intarsia chart, utilising three colours and splitting to make thumb. When you are complete you just weave in the ends, and slip them on.
We hope you like them as much as us.

The Bessie May Heart Beanie Hat and Spaghetti Scarf pattern was launched at the Knit and Stitch Show.
At the Bessie May Studio we have created this in three beautiful colour ways, but the choice is endless as there are 18 beautiful shades to choose from in the Bessie May Smitsy yarn, which is 100% fine merino, and even better it is machine washable.
Many colour combinations were chosen by Bessie Mayers at the show, so we are looking forward to seeing pictures of all the amazing colour way creations.
The pattern is great for someone wishing to expand their skill in colour work, as there is a small about of jacquard where the hearts are created, and simple stripes, but done in different sized banding to add more interest.
A great project for either yourself, or how about for a best friend in their favourite colours. We can guarantee they will wear it again and again.
The Hat and Scarf brighten up any winter coat, and the scarf can be worn long or wrapped four times, so can also be used as a knitted necklace to add something a bit different to a plain outfit.
